If you had to guess where you are most likely to have a mold problem, what would you first guess be? For many homeowners, their bathroom would probably come high up on the list. The problems in the bathroom are many. Often there is poor ventilation. There are many possible sources of leaks, and every time someone takes a hot shower, you will have a large amount of moisture in the air. Add to that the possibility of family members leaving piles of wet clothes or towels sitting around on the floor, and you definitely have a high potential for mold growth.
If you want to do what you can to prevent this from happening, you should take steps to meet each of those problems. The first step is to make your family aware of the risk. If everyone in the family is conscious of the risk mold presents, they will all be more vigilant. Anything that is wet needs to be hung to dry, not bunched up in a corner.
If you have an issue with ventilation, you should make sure that your bathroom fan works properly and is vented outside. If there is a window in your bathroom, you should air it out frequently.
